Context
Make Real were developing an innovative AI learning tool to help professionals build their business storytelling skills, in collaboration with London Business School. They wanted to know how well it worked in practice - and whether it could be more effective than traditional training methods. The results would help London Business School decide where to focus future investment in learning and development.
We ran a series of studies, testing several versions of the tool with hundreds of participants. Our research compared the experience and learning outcomes of people using the AI tool with those taking part in traditional training, to see what really made a difference.
To make sure the findings were robust, we validated participants’ own reflections on their progress with reviews from an external panel of business storytelling experts. We also worked with an academic partner from the University of California, who brought additional depth and rigour to the quantitative analysis.
The study revealed how effective the AI tool was compared to traditional methods - showing where it excelled, where it could be used most effectively, and what to refine next. The results gave both Make Real and London Business School the confidence to move forward with a clear direction for development.
We shared the findings in an academic paper, contributing new insights to the learning community. Following the study, Make Real refined the tool based on our recommendations - and went on to win industry awards recognising its innovation and impact.
